Vacuum casting prototyping is a process that is commonly used to create small batch or prototype parts made of various materials, including ABS. Here's a general overview of the process:
Create a master pattern: The first step is to create a master pattern, which can be made from a variety of materials such as wood, plastic or metal. This pattern will be used to create a mold.
Make a mold: Using the master pattern, a silicone rubber mold is created. This mold will be used to create the final parts.
Prepare the resin: The ABS resin is mixed with a hardener and poured into the mold.
Vacuum and cure: The mold is then placed in a vacuum chamber to remove any air bubbles from the resin. The resin is then cured using heat.
Remove the final part: Once the resin has cured, the mold is opened and the final part is removed.
